AUGUSTA, Ga. () – With a week until the Masters Tournament, local clothing stores see people coming in to get course ready.

The Swank Company, Posh Tots, and Escape Outdoors see locals and patrons coming into the shop. Popular items are things like tennis shoes and clear bags to prepare for the tournament. Or people preparing with Masters decorations if renting their home out.

“Two weeks before we have so much home stuff and people come in looking to decorate their houses,” said Ruthie Shelnutt, Sales Representative, Swank. “We have a whole bunch of small businesses here, businesses that carry items like their art prints and so much of that.”

The Masters brings in people from all over the world, and while they come in… locals may leave, but one store says they have the necessities for both.

“Everybody wants to be course-ready, and whether you’re going to the course or going on vacation, you definitely want Something bright. Something fun, Something that’s going to stand out and make you feel good,” said Sade Anthony, Manager, Palm Village Augusta.

Swank has a few different store locations; their main store is on Furys Ferry Road. But they have one in Riverwood right outside the Augusta National Women’s Amateur and one in Surrey Center just a few minutes from the Masters.

“We send a lot more golf stuff over there and keep a lot here as well. But over there is mainly all the greens and yellows. When you walk in, you’re going to see a whole bunch of golf stuff and all the colors that represent The Masters,” said Shelnutt.

Surry Center being so close to the course makes this time of the year exciting and busy for the area.

“Definitely brings life to our little center here. I feel like we’re off the beaten path but also like in the best possible location to be in. So, you know, every weekend at Surry Center is fun, and you have Something to do and places to shop, but during Master’s Week, you really see an outpour of people just eating, shopping, drinking, having a good time,” said Anthony.

These stores enjoy meeting and working with those who come and shop during this time.
