Hollywood’s Box Office Woes Continue: ‘Snow White’ Stumbles Overseas With $44 Million, Robert De Niro’s ‘Alto Knights’ Bombs With $1.8 Million

Disney’s “Snow White” retained the top spot at the U.K. and Ireland box office for a second week, bringing in £2 million ($2.6 million) and pushing its total to £6.7 million ($8.7 million), according to Comscore.

Leading the newcomers was “L2: Empuraan,” the Malayalam-language action film distributed by RFT Films Ltd. The film, a sequel to 2019’s “Lucifer,” opened with $1.5 million, securing second place and marking one of the strongest regional Indian film debuts in the U.K. in recent years. Starring Mohanlal and from actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film is the second part in a planned trilogy.

Warner Bros.’ “A Working Man,” starring Jason Statham, debuted at No. 3 with $850,180.

Universal’s “Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy” slipped to fourth but continued its phenomenal run, adding $726,295 in its seventh weekend. The film has now grossed $58.9 million, making it the highest-grossing U.K. release of the year.

In fifth, Paramount’s dark comedy “Novocaine,” starring Jack Quaid and Amber Midthunder, opened with $703,090. Universal’s “Black Bag” held sixth place with $544,533 in its third week, bringing its total to $4 million. Warner Bros.’ “Mickey 17” followed in seventh, adding $426,590 for a cumulative gross of $8.4 million after four weeks.

Event cinema continued to perform well as CinemaLive’s “Billy Elliot: The Musical Live,” a live recording of the beloved stage production, entered the chart at No. 8 with $381,317.

Curzon’s “Flow” landed at No. 9 with $378,888 in its second weekend, pushing its total to $1.1 million. Rounding out the top 10 was the National Theatre’s “Dr. Strangelove – NT Live 2025,” the theatrical adaptation of the Stanley Kubrick classic, which earned $262,344.

Among the upcoming releases, on Tuesday, April 1, Puccini’s “Turandot” from the Royal Opera House in London, is distributed by Trafalgar Releasing. On the Wednesday, K-pop group Seventeen brings their “Right Here” world tour to theaters via Trafalgar Releasing. Directed by Yoondong Oh, the concert film will screen in over 100 locations, delivering the group’s high-energy performances to fans nationwide.

Of the plethora of releases on Friday, Warner Bros.’ “A Minecraft Movie,” starring Jason Momoa, Jack Black and Jennifer Coolidge, rolls out across 300+ screens.

Peccadillo Pictures debuts Sundance selection “Sebastian,” where a 25-year-old aspiring writer living in London begins a double life as a sex worker in order to research his debut novel.

Vertigo Releasing’s Berlin-winning “Last Swim,” a coming-of-age drama starring Deba Hekmat, Solly Mcleod, Denzel Baidoo, and Jay Lycurgo, and directed by Sasha Nathwani, opens in over 100 locations.

Entertainment Film Distributors launches the dark comedy “Death of a Unicorn,” while Metis Films is releasing thriller “Restless” across 100 locations.

Studiocanal presents “The Most Precious of Cargoes,” directed by Michel Hazanavicius. The Cannes-selected wartime animated drama features Dominique Blanc, Jean-Louis Trintignant, and Gregory Gadebois.

Icon Film Distribution releases “Mr. Burton,” a drama directed by Marc Evans, starring Toby Jones, Lesley Manville, and Harry Lawtey. BFI Distribution is opening “Four Mothers,” the Irish remake of Italian sleeper hit “Mid-August Lunch.”

Altitude Film Distribution celebrates the 30th anniversary of “Muriel’s Wedding” with a theatrical re-release, bringing the cult classic back to cinemas.

Vue Entertainment’s comedy-horror “Screamboat,” Ideas Agitadas Productions’ documentary “About Light And Shadows,” and Dreamz Entertainment’s Gujarati-language legal drama “All The Best Pandya” round out the week’s slate.
