BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A Tuscaloosa man was sentenced to three years in prison for cyberstalking.

Kenneth Hoover, 27, was sentenced to 37 months in prison after pleading guilty to interstate threatening communications and cyberstalking in November, according to U.S. Attorney Prim Escalona.

According to the plea agreement, the FBI National Threat Operations Center received an online tip on January 22, 2024, concerning posts made on X. The plea agreement stated that in the posts, Hoover threatened to assault and kill his ex-girlfriend.

Tuscaloosa police was notified and initiated a traffic stop on Hoover a few days later. After ordering Hoover to exit the vehicle several times, additional officers arrived and placed him into custody.

The investigation determined Hoover used several applications to send violent and threatening messages to the victim.
