Birmingham police say tips from community led to murder suspect's arrest

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Birmingham Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection to a homicide that occurred on Wednesday.

At around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, West Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a person shot at a house in the 3200 block of Avenue S. An adult male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

BPD says they received a tip from the community stating the possible shooter was in a nearby residence. Officers conducted a follow-up investigation and took the suspect into custody. The suspect has been identified as Qwaron Wilson, 37, of Birmingham.

BPD Homicide detectives presented case information to the Jefferson County Magistrate’s Office, and Wilson was issued with a murder warrant.

Wilson is in custody at the Jefferson County Jail. She has no bond.
