A TV cameraman sustained a scratched forehead when he was struck in the head by a stray ball kicked by Opposition Leader Peter Dutton during a photo op in Darwin.

Ghaith Nadir, a cameraman for Channel 10, was filming the event at a local footy club when the ball went straight towards him.

“Oh got him,” Dutton said before realising the kick had left the man with a bloodied forehead after the ball hit his camera into his head.

Dutton had been at the Palmerstone sports ground to announce a $5 million dollar investment to the sports precinct.

“We know that sport is a powerful tool in bringing communities together. That’s why the Coalition is investing in Cazalys Arena,” Dutton stated to the media following the kicking incident.

“This iconic arena will receive the necessary and deserved upgrades, providing thousands of young people and their families with a safe and modern sporting environment, ensuring the arena remains fit for purpose for decades to come.”

Peter Dutton had been in Darwin this morning unveiling a new policy to buy back the Port of Darwin after it was leased for 99 years to a private company with Chinese connections.

The deal was approved under then-Coalition Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
