A Georgia man accused of killing his pregnant teenage girlfriend was granted bond again after prosecutors filed additional charges against him.

In February, Jesus Monroy, 20, faced new charges after prosecutors discovered more evidence, as reported by 11 Alive. The additional charges encompass statutory rape, child molestation, and enticing a child for indecent purposes.

Earlier coverage by CrimeOnline detailed the disappearance of Mia Campos, 16, in June. Her family traced her cellphone, leading to the discovery of her body under a mile from their Gwinnett County home.

The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Campos died from “asphyxia due to neck compression.”

An autopsy confirmed she was 38 weeks pregnant at the time of her death, according to WSB-TV.

Campos’ ex-boyfriend, Monroy, was initially charged with lying to police after her body was found.

On July 23, Gwinnett County police elevated the charges against Monroy to include malice murder, felony murder, feticide, and aggravated assault. An arrest warrant disclosed that Monroy, the father of Campos’ baby, enticed her to the entrance of her neighborhood and killed her by asphyxiation.

In August, Monroy was granted a $50,000 bond while awaiting trial. According to 11 Alive, the conditions included no contact with witnesses and the use of an ankle monitor.

After his February indictment, Monroy was arrested again.

On Thursday, a Gwinnett County judge granted Monroy’s defense attorney’s motion for bond, setting it at $150,000 with conditions similar to the previous bond.

Gwinnett County District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gaston commented on the judge’s decision.

“We do not agree with the granting of bond in such cases as this, but we present the issues to the Court, and the Court gives her ruling. We assure the family that the District Attorney’s Office will fight and achieve justice in this case,” she said, as reported by 11 Alive.

According to Fox 5, Monroy remained in custody as of late Friday.
