Ben Affleck was back in front of the camera, and sporting a wedding ring, on the Los Angeles set of his upcoming Netflix thriller “Animals” on Friday.

The ring caught attention not just for its symbolism, but for its timing, coming just months after Ben Affleck finalized his divorce from Jennifer Lopez.

In newly surfaced photos obtained by Page Six, the Oscar-winning actor-director was seen wearing a band on his left hand while taking a break between scenes. With a coffee in one hand and a cigarette in the other, Affleck was dressed in a gray patterned suit jacket, a crisp white button-down shirt, and jeans.

While it’s unclear whether the ring belonged to Affleck or his on-screen character, it is likely the latter.

“Animals” follows Affleck as the son of a Los Angeles mayoral candidate who, along with his wife, is kidnapped and given just hours to secure a ransom, according to the film’s IMDb synopsis. The project features a high-profile ensemble that includes Gillian Anderson, Kerry Washington, Steven Yeun, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Ray Fisher, and “Emilia Perez” star Adriana Paz.

The film is being partially produced by Artists Equity, the production company launched by Affleck and longtime collaborator Matt Damon. The pair have been ramping up their efforts behind the camera while continuing to lead select acting projects.

Affleck’s on-set moment arrives just one week after he was seen test-driving motorcycles in Los Angeles, a sighting that coincided with the release of his GQ April 2025 cover story, in which he candidly addressed his divorce from Lopez.

“I have nothing but respect [for her]. I guess there’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly, like I said, the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting,” he said.

“If you sat down and talked to me about my life, your eyes would glaze over with boredom,” he explained on how exaggerated the headlines have become in contrast to the actual events. “There is no scandal, no soap opera [and] no intrigue.”

In the interview, Affleck also responded to speculation that Lopez’s personal documentary, “Greatest Love Story Never Told,” created “some major fracture” in their relationship. The “Gone Girl” actor was clear in denying that narrative.

“You’ve got to own what you knew going into any relationship,” he explained. “It’s not like you can watch that documentary and go, ‘Oh, now I understand the issues that these two had.’”

Affleck recently opened up about what stability looks like in his life these days, and it includes a heartfelt acknowledgment of his ex-wife and longtime co-parent, Jennifer Garner.

In the same GQ interview, the actor shared rare insight into his family dynamic, expressing gratitude for the solid foundation he and Garner have built as co-parents to their three children.

“We used to have a thing, my ex-wife and I, when they would see something on a supermarket stand, we would say, well, ‘You know this isn’t always true because if it were, you would have 15 brothers or sisters or whatever the number of stories is where they said that your mom was pregnant,’” he said, recalling how they’ve navigated tabloid headlines over the years with humor and grace.

“And I’m really lucky that I have a really good co-parent and partner in Jennifer Garner, the kids’ mom, who’s wonderful and great and we work together well,” Affleck added, before acknowledging that dealing with constant media speculation can feel like a “headache more than anything else.”

Meanwhile, Lopez has been carving out space for personal reflection in the wake of her own shift in relationship status.

Following her split from Affleck, the multi-hyphenate star appeared in an Interview magazine feature last October, where she opened up about rediscovering herself in a new chapter of independence.

“Everything that I’ve done over the past 25, 30 years, being in these different challenging situations, what can I f-cking do when it’s just me flying on my own?” she said, offering a candid take on resilience and reinvention.
