JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is monitoring an “out of control” brush fire Sunday in the area of State Road 23, near Normandy Boulevard and 103rd Street.
FHP said in a release Sunday evening that the fire is approximately 15 acres.
Officials said the burning area is “difficult to access” due to the fire bordering a pond and swamp.
Traffic cameras showed smoky conditions and emergency vehicles in the area.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution while driving in the area, as visibility could become an issue due to smoky or foggy conditions.
Officials said smoke signs have been requested to notify drivers on nearby roads.
This is a developing story.
