Five people have been arrested after more than $1 million in luxury goods were stolen in ram raids across Melbourne’s CBD.
Detectives seized several designer bags, jewellery, stolen cars and drugs from six storage units and properties in Cranbourne, Dandenong and Springvale yesterday.
The search warrants came following alleged raids at stores in Melbourne’s CBD, including four separate incidents on Collins Street on March 6, March 21, April 8 and April 16.
A store was also allegedly robbed on April 6, as well as another on Mt Alexander Road in Essendon on April 16.
Police allege $1.2 million worth of goods were taken in the robberies.
Five people were arrested during the search warrants, including a 21-year-old man who has been charged with the theft of a vehicle, burglary, criminal damage, committing an offence while on bail and more.
A 31-year-old man has been charged with theft of a car, burglary, aggravated burglary, committing an offence while on bail and other offences.
Another man, also aged 31, has been charged with theft of a car, burglary, theft, handling stolen goods, committing an offence on bail and other offences.
They were remanded in custody and will appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court.
A 30-year-old man has been charged with motor theft, possessing drugs and committing an offence while on bail.
A 30-year-old man from Dandenong was released pending summons.
The investigation is ongoing.
