It has been an eventful week for the marketing team of Alien: Earth, who have unveiled three fresh teasers in recent days. The most extensive, titled “Gestation Complete,” dedicates two full minutes to the development and birth of an alien entity. Another teaser, named “Crate,” suggests Earth might be facing threats beyond the infamous xenomorphs, known for their slick appearance and acid-spitting nature. These teasers were both made public today, following an amusing Earth Day teaser earlier this week that was styled as a nature documentary.
Fans of the original 1979 Alien movie might find “Gestation Complete” particularly appealing. After the eerie alien birth scene, viewers are shown the interior of the Weyland-Yutani vessel that transports the creature, featuring retro-futuristic CRT-style screens and blinking buttons reminiscent of the ship’s Mother’s chamber—the room containing the ship’s AI interface. One display ominously declares: “NEW SPECIES DETECTED.”
The brief trailer hints at additional elements the series may offer. A narrator describes scenes of mysterious aliens behind misty yellow containment modules:
This ship collected five different life forms from the darkest corners of the universe. Each one, a unique, deadly species. Monsters.
The ship in question is headed for a crash-landing on Earth. Here’s the show’s synopsis, from the videos’ descriptions:
When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in FX’s highly anticipated TV series Alien: Earth from creator Noah Hawley.
The rest of the cast includes Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El. Alien: Earth is set to release this summer on FX and Hulu.
