For many years, Maroon 5 was one of the most reliable hit-producing groups in the music industry. Bands have largely faded away in today’s musical economy, as fans typically favor female superstars, rappers, and occasionally male pop icons, though K-pop groups seem to be the occasional exception to this rule.
Many of the most successful pop and rock bands from the past few decades — think OneRepublic, Imagine Dragons, and Coldplay — have failed to score chart-topping smashes or radio wins as of late. Maroon 5 is included in that bunch, but the group is looking to return to the charts in just a few days, as a brand new collaboration with one of the hottest female stars in the world may earn the Grammy-winning act another smash.
Maroon 5’s New Single “Priceless”
On Friday (May 2), Maroon 5 dropped its new single “Priceless.” The track is the band’s first in almost two years, which is a lifetime for any pop act to go without sharing new music.
The tune appears to front a forthcoming eighth album, although for the moment, Maroon 5 — fronted by lead singer and songwriter Adam Levine — has not shared complete details about what’s next.
Maroon 5’s Collaboration With Lisa
“Priceless” features Lisa, the superstar who has emerged as one of the hottest musical names in the world over the past year or so, though she’s been well-known for quite some time as one of the four members of K-pop girl group Blackpink.
She began promoting her debut solo album Alter Ego last year, and the project dropped in February 2025, when it opened inside the top 10 on the Billboard 200. So far, the project has produced a trio of Hot 100 smashes, including “Rockstar,” “New Woman” with Rosalía, and “Born Again,” a collaboration with both Doja Cat and Raye.
Maroon 5’s Smart Marketing Move
Adding Lisa to the new cut is a smart move for Maroon 5. The band has been relying on large, high-profile collaborations for some time, but this one is a bit different. The group needs a hit right now, as it’s been years since it scored a win.
Maroon 5 last appeared on the Hot 100 in 2021, when “Beautiful Mistakes” featuring Megan Thee Stallion rose to No. 13. That was the last successful single from Jordi, the band’s seventh full-length, which arrived in the summer of that year.
The outfit tried to begin a new chapter in mid-2023, but things didn’t go well. The band’s own “Middle Ground” made little to no commercial imprint in the U.S. It did reach two of Billboard’s pop radio rankings, but it didn’t crack the top 10 on either of them, and didn’t manage to hold on for very long. Whether it was supposed to be a standalone tune or not is unclear, but nothing was heard from the group for months after its arrival.
Now, Maroon 5 returns to its tried-and-true formula of working with one of the hottest soloists in the industry to bring attention to a new release — and hopefully score a big radio win once again.
