Drivers arrested after allegedly running from police in separate incidents

Two people have been arrested after allegedly running from police in separate incidents in South Australia last night.

Police first tried to stop a red Holden Sedan on Martins Road in Parafield Gardens at 8.30pm when the driver allegedly “took off at speed,” according to police.

The car was then tracked from above by a PolAir helicopter to John Rice Avenue and The Grove Way.

Police allege the car reached speeds of up to 120km/h.

Officers spiked the car twice before it stopped on Hamilton Road in Fairview Park, when the driver allegedly tried to flee on foot.

The 32-year-old man, who had previously been disqualified from driving, was arrested by police.

He has been charged with failing to stop, driving dangerously to escape police, speeding dangerously, driving on a disqualified license and resisting police.

A few hours later, police in Semaphore spotted a vehicle on Bower Road when it “took off” suddenly.

Officers called in backup from a police helicopter which followed the black Holden sedan as it turned onto Causeway Road.

The car was allegedly speeding on the Northern Connector and the North-South Motorway when it crashed into a roundabout near Waterloo Corner Road.

The driver, aged 41, then allegedly fled from the car, but police quickly found him and he was arrested,

He sustained injuries in the crash and was taken to hospital for treatment.

He was charged with excessive speeding, speeding dangerously and driving unlicensed/unregistered.

He did not apply for bail and will appear in Port Adelaide Magistrates Court May 5.

The 32-year-old was granted bail and will appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on June 18.
