ATLANTA — A mother and her three daughters will graduate from Georgia State University on the same day!
The Lee family, hailing from Austell, Georgia, with members Quila Lee, 53, Rakiya Lee, 31, and twins Kamiya and Kalaya Lee, 22, will graduate on May 7 at the Georgia State Convocation Center, earning their master’s and bachelor’s degrees.
Per a Georgia State release, Quila Lee, who teaches seventh-grade social studies at Clayton County’s Babb Middle School, will obtain her second master’s degree: a Master of Arts in Teaching, specializing in secondary education.
Rakiya Lee is a project manager for the City of Atlanta. Georgia State said Rakiya is earning her second degree: a Master of Public Administration. Rakiya previously earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from GSU in 2017.
Kamiya and Kalaya Lee are also completing their respective bachelor’s degrees in biology from the university. After graduation, Kamiya plans to attend medical school to become a physician and Kalaya wants to pursue a veterinary medicine degree, according to Georgia State.
GSU stated that Quila’s daughters had previously accompanied her when she earned her first master’s degree in 2003.
“Fast forward 22 years, and you never could have told me these girls and I would be graduating together,” Quila told Georgia State. “As any mother would be, I am so proud of them.”
