AUGUSTA, Ga. () – On Monday, around 7:15 a.m., the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, along with the U.S. Marshals Task Force, attempted to arrest a suspect at a home situated in the 2000 block of Clark Street, near Wood Street, on federal charges.

The suspect, identified as 58-year-old James Jackson, was wanted for Federal Probation Violations associated with various narcotics and weapons possession charges.

Jackson also has a documented history of resisting and fleeing from law enforcement.

Upon approach, the situation escalated into a barricaded subject incident, prompting the activation of the Richmond County SWAT Team for assistance.

At approximately 8:03 a.m., tear gas was deployed inside the residence, and Jackson was safely taken into custody without further incident.

A second individual, 40-year-old Monica Rihm, was arrested at the scene for an order to show cause / probation violation relative to narcotics.
