Tyreek Hill leaves Tua Tagovailoa off top QB list in Dolphins drama

Well, this won’t do much to dispel the rumblings that there’s an unhappy receiver in Miami.

This week, Tyreek Hill, the star wide receiver for the Dolphins, drew attention by listing his top five quarterbacks in the league, notably excluding his team’s quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa.

When a fan asked Hill to list his favorite quarterbacks, he mentioned Lamar Jackson from the Ravens, Josh Allen from the Bills, Baker Mayfield from the Buccaneers, Joe Burrow from the Bengals, and his former teammate Patrick Mahomes from the Chiefs. Hill did not rank these players in any particular order, as shared in a video on social media.

The omission of Tagovailoa is curious given the quarterback made the cut on Hill’s previous list shared last summer.

In Hill’s updated quarterback list for 2025, Allen and Burrow appeared as new additions, replacing the spots previously held by Tagovailoa and Dak Prescott of the Cowboys.

The release of the list followed an 8-9 Dolphins campaign that saw Tagovailoa miss time due to a concussion and hip injury.

Hill, who failed to surpass 1,000 receiving yards last season for the first time since 2019, then stirred buzz following a Week 18 loss to the Jets by telling reporters, “I’m out.”

He attempted to clear the air weeks later by declaring Tagovailoa “is my guy.”

“He understands my frustration. We all want to win. Tua, he’s another competitor, he’s a hell of a competitor, a lot of people don’t know that. He’s a winner, he’s consistent, so I’m looking forward to us continuing to build our relationship. And this is my public apology tour. I love you, bro,” Hill said during a February appearance on “Up & Adams.”

However, those comments didn’t stop Dolphins brass from being asked about the possibility of moving Hill, now weeks removed from a domestic disturbance involving his spouse, who has filed for divorce.

“That is not anything that we’re pursuing,” Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said before the 2025 NFL Draft in April.

Hill has caught passes from Tagovailoa for the past three seasons.

He was traded by the Chiefs in 2022 and signed a four-year, $120 million extension with the Dolphins.

The 2024 season marked the first time Hill missed the playoffs.
