A man tragically passed away after plunging 100 feet while attempting to capture a selfie from a hotel rooftop in the Canary Islands.

The incident occurred early Sunday morning, with the 48-year-old standing on the eighth-floor when he fell.

According to police, the man, a resident of the Canary Islands, had climbed over the railing of a rooftop terrace in an apartment to take the photo.

He then became unstable and fell from the roof to the promenade below at around 1.30am.

While emergency services rushed to the scene, he was pronounced dead upon their arrival.

He was with a friend at the time of the horrifying accident.

It happened in the La Puntilla area of Las Canteras.
