WAYCROSS, Ga. () — A Georgia State Trooper was injured in a collision Wednesday when his car overturned and landed in a creek during a chase.

Georgia State Patrol Captain Crystal Zion reported that Trooper Justin Jones initiated a traffic stop in Ware County. The suspect took off, prompting Trooper Jones to give chase.
The Trooper employed a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver. Following the execution of the PIT, Jones’ car veered off onto the roadside and flipped into a creek. The suspect’s car ended up upright atop the patrol car.
Submerged in the creek, Trooper Jones lost consciousness. Emergency life-saving actions were administered at the scene. Once stabilized, Jones was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in Savannah.
