FISHER, Ill. (WCIA) — Next month, the Fisher Police Chief is calling it quits. Steven Bein will be retiring on June 13.
He mentioned that his career in law enforcement, which spans over 35 years, has been remarkable. It all began in 1988 at the Piatt County Sheriff’s Office, moved through roles in Bement and Gibson City, and is now concluding in Fisher.
“As I’ve often stated, I’m not going to spend 10 hours a day in a squad car anymore. I intend to focus on things I’ve been wanting to do,” Bein remarked. “I have a large workshop that’s currently disorganized, and I want to clean it up to work and engage in activities. Additionally, there are some home projects that need attention for my wife’s sake.”
He said out of all his years in law enforcement, one of his biggest accomplishments was being able to connect with each community he served.
