Mohamed Salah was among many Liverpool stars who expressed their admiration for Trent Alexander-Arnold on social media after the full-back announced he would be leaving Anfield on Monday.

Alexander-Arnold, after spending two decades at the club, playing over 350 matches, and winning eight major trophies, declared he would depart Liverpool at the end of his contract this summer.

The lifelong supporter of the team shared that the decision was incredibly tough and was not influenced by financial considerations. He understood that the news might disappoint, anger, or upset many fans. Despite this, his teammates have responded positively to his announcement.

Salah found himself in the same position as Alexander-Arnold, entering the final weeks of his contract after a season-long saga. Unlike his English colleague, Liverpool’s leading scorer put pen to paper on a new two-year deal.

“It’s been a pleasure sharing a special friendship with you and playing alongside you,” Salah wrote on X beneath a quartet of images showing himself alongside his soon-to-be ex-teammate. “I wish you the best and I am sure we will meet again.”

Alexander-Arnold has every intention of making a swift return to Anfield as a fan whenever he can, The Times claim. The player himself revealed: “There’s no doubt about it, I’ll be back – I’d love one day to be able to bring my kids to Anfield and show them that that’s where I’ve played and show them the videos and highlights of what we were able to achieve together.”

Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo both hailed Alexander-Arnold as a “legend” while Harvey Elliott gushed: “Unbelievable player! Even better guy. Trent Alexander-Arnold Enjoy it brother. Thank you!”

Dominik Szoboszlai only spent two seasons alongside the right-back but quickly forged a strong friendship. “My boy,” he wrote. “Love you and enjoy”

Andy Robertson was Alexander-Arnold’s partner in crime on the opposite side of the pitch for the past eight years. The pair boast a combined 123 Premier League assists, comfortably the most of any defender in the competition’s history. “Brother for life!!” The Scot posted. “We’ve been through it all together!”
