Amanda Bardwell, the CEO of Woolworths, has addressed customers with a commitment to reduce prices on “hundreds” of items available in stores this week.

The supermarket chain announced it plans to cut on-shelf product prices by an average of 10 percent.

Items earmarked for the price drop include bread, chicken schnitzels, and dishwasher pods.

The discounts will begin this Wednesday, May 14, for almost 400 products, including both Woolworths-branded and other items.

The lower prices will continue until “at least 2026”, Woolworths said in its release.

“This initiative is more than just a temporary deal; it’s about offering lower shelf prices on popular products that our customers frequently purchase, delivering real, sustained, and reliable value,” said Woolworths Group CEO Amanda Bardwell.

“We’re concentrating on popular family choices such as Greek yogurt, frozen berries, and chicken schnitzel, along with necessities like flour, bread, rice, and diapers.”

She said the list of discounted items would be “expanded” in the coming weeks and months.

“Individually, each lower shelf price might not seem like a dramatic difference but they will add up to real savings,” Bardwell said.

“Families spending $150 on their weekly shop could now save on average around $15 a week when buying Lower Shelf Price products.”
