A few weeks after a teenager from California was shot and killed outside a McDonald’s, a teenage couple surrendered to the authorities and were charged with his suspected murder.

On April 23, 18-year-old Caleb Quick was fatally shot outside a McDonald’s in Clovis, a city in California’s Central Valley. For weeks, the identity of the suspects remained unknown. Then, on Saturday, Clovis Police Department revealed that two 16-year-olds, a boy and a girl in a relationship, were arrested in connection with Quick’s death. The couple, after seeking legal advice, reported to the police on Friday.

During a press event, Clovis Police Chief Curt Fleming outlined the events leading to Quick’s tragic end. He shared surveillance images showing a white Tesla arriving at the McDonald’s parking lot at 7:44 p.m. and leaving around 8:15 p.m. The footage also showed Quick entering the restaurant at 8:33 p.m., and the male suspect was seen walking towards the premises.

At the same time, the Tesla — allegedly carrying the female suspect — returns to the restaurant.

The male suspect, wearing all black, entered the McDonald’s about five minutes later and then took a seat. The video allegedly showed him “lying in wait” for Quick for 13 minutes, after which the male suspect followed Quick out of the building at 8:56 p.m.
