URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) – Illinois men’s golf couldn’t maintain a three-stroke lead it held entering the final day of play at Atkins Golf Club.

Even though the Illini didn’t completely lose their lead, they ended up sharing first place with Oklahoma State at the end of the three-day tournament in Urbana.

Both teams finished the event at 15 under par, resulting in a shared regional title. Since the top five teams move on to the NCAA Nationals, there wasn’t a playoff to decide the overall winner.

Oklahoma State shot -8 in round three to close the gap, while Illinois shot -5 on Wednesday.

UNLV was third after shooting +1 on the final round.

Illinois shot +5 on the final three holes of the day, while the Cowboys closed at +2 to secure a tie for the top spot.
