It’s quite rare for suspected offenders to turn themselves in, especially taking the time to have a drink with the individual they allegedly victimized.

But that’s exactly what’s happened in outback Queensland this week.

An apologetic cowboy expressed regret following his supposed break-in at the nearby tavern.

Caleb Dixon is accused of sifting through the cash register at the Toobeah Hotel early on Tuesday.

Now he has shared a schooner with the owner of the hotel, five hours from Brisbane.

The ashamed 19-year-old came forward after seeing his face and name plastered on social media.

“I had a few too many beers, honestly, it was just random as, shouldn’t have been done,” he said in a video.

“I’m not like that at all.”

The cowboy and an accomplice were seen on CCTV stumbling into the pub with a crowbar wearing Akubra-style hats.

He’s accused of taking off with up to $6000 worth of alcohol, cigarettes and cash.

Dixon swears he’ll return it all.

Toobeah Hotel Motel owner Michael Offerdahl said it was “great to see some remorse.”

“He said they locked it when they left, so I thought that was pretty nice of him, I suppose,” he said.

“The boys just didn’t have a plan. It was just really silly what they were obviously doing.”

Dixon has since been charged and will appear in court next month.

Police are still looking to talk to his friend.
