In Arkansas, a couple has been taken into custody for allegedly subjecting a teenage girl to years of abuse, including sexual assault, forcing her to consume drugs, and withholding food.

Daniel Caler, 34, and Annie Caler, 28, were arrested on May 9 following allegations from a teenager living in their home, who disclosed the abuse to a school counselor. As per court documents accessed by KNWA, a local Fox affiliate, the girl reported to the police that Daniel Caler allegedly raped her multiple times from August 2020 to March 2023, until Annie Caler intervened. Nonetheless, police reports also indicate that the girl claimed Annie Caler imposed even harsher abuse.

According to the documents, the girl recounted an incident to the police where Annie Caler allegedly stabbed her in the neck with a fork for not cleaning the dishes to her standard. During this episode, Annie Caler reportedly expressed, “I hope you die,” to the girl.

The girl also told police that when she had a broken leg, the couple allegedly refused to take her to the hospital for treatment.

While living in the home, the girl told police that she was forced to sleep in a bathtub without a pillow or blankets and was fed just once a week — reportedly being given just a glass of water and a Pop-Tart. She told investigators that the couple physically abused her by pushing her into walls and punching and kicking her.
