More than six months have passed, and the co-hosts of The View are still in disagreement over the reasons why they believe Democrats lost to Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, a Republican who cast her vote for Kamala Harris in November, suggested that they should focus equally on criticizing the Democratic Party as they do on Trump during their Hot Topics discussions.

“At this table, we dedicate a lot of time to criticizing Donald Trump, and much of it is justified and necessary,” she stated. “Yet, it’s also true that his approval rating stands at 39%, a historic low. Meanwhile, the Democrats’ rating is at 27%. People felt misled and deceived.”

According to Griffin, 77% of Americans in 2023 felt like Joe Biden was too old to run for president. However, they were told to “sit down and shut up” until things became so “untenable” that the party “anointed” Harris to the race without a primary or a “democratic process.”

While Griffin described Biden as a “good man,” she agreed with the 77% of Americans who did not think he would’ve been able to serve another four years as POTUS. The former White House staffer also referenced actor George Clooney’s claim that Biden didn’t recognize him after he “moved mountains” to fly in for a “record fundraiser” last summer.

“That’s not a presidential duty. That’s not a job. You don’t have to recognize George Clooney,” Griffin said. “But does that give you confidence that in the middle of the night if China’s about to attack us, there’s a war breaking out in Iran, that he is the sharpest person to be able to handle that?”

Joy Behar then brought up a recent snafu from the Trump administration when Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth texted his brother war plans.

“Which administration texted war plans to their brother?” the comedian asked, to which Griffin fired back, “But do we just keep lowering the bar because Trump is bad? Nothing else is bad because Trump is bad?”

Behar responded by telling Griffin to “get over it” and that the “ship has sailed” when it comes to discussing Biden’s age and ability to serve.

“We have Trump because you guys screwed this up! With all due respect,” Griffin snapped, to which Behar asked, “But does it help to just keep going over the same material about Biden over and over again?”

Sunny Hostin, meanwhile, chimed in to say that Trump was elected because “he lied to his base.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
