A family in Perth is coming to terms with an uncertain future after the death of father and husband Jaspreet Singh.

Amandeep Kaur was immediately informed of her husband Singh’s fatal accident when his truck collided with a freight train, thanks to an emergency alert text message.

Their 12-year-old son, Samarveer Singh, shared with 9News, “Since they were listed as emergency contacts for each other, the message read ‘SOS, Jaspreet has crashed at this location’.”

The boy and his mother paid tribute to 41-year-old Jaspreet, who was described as a hard worker, gentle soul and a devoted father.

Samarveer said he has been calling his father’s phone just to hear his recorded voicemail message.

“We all loved him,” Samarveer said.

“He was heartwarming, he was really kind.

“I’m feeling alone without my dad, and I miss him. I haven’t slept, like, really well.”

Amandeep Kaur and Jaspreet Singh moved to Australia in 2018. (Nine)

The family moved from India to Australia in 2018 and Jaspreet had been applying for residency.

His wife is now seeking her own and a fundraiser has been launched to support the family.

Samarveer said he hoped he and his mother could stay in Australia.

“I have to fulfil [Dad’s] dreams, and everything he said, I have to do,” Samarveer said.

“I have to take care of my Mum.”

Police are investigating the truck driver’s death at the Cardup railway crossing on May 5.
