FORMER US president Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer which has spread to his bone.

The 82-year-old confirmed he had the advanced form of the disease in a statement from his personal office.

It read: “Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms.

“On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.

“The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”

According to Cancer Research UK, a Gleason score of 9 indicates that the cancer cells appear “highly abnormal” and suggests that the cancer is “likely to progress rapidly”.

Biden served as US president from 2021 to 2025, with his term ending on January 20 when Donald Trump took office.
