Police officers allegedly assaulted in brawl at NRL match

Following the NRL clash between the Wests Tigers and the South Sydney Rabbitohs last night, two men were detained by authorities, two individuals required medical attention and transport to the hospital, and two police officers were reportedly attacked.

At about 7.50pm, police were told a fight had broken out between rival supporters at Campbelltown Sports Stadium in Sydneysouth-west.

One police officer was allegedly punched in the head, and a second allegedly punched in the face, before assistance from other officers was sought.

A 30-year-old man was charged with affray, two counts of assaulting police, and resisting arrest.

He was bailed to attend court on June 12.

A 28-year-old man was arrested for alleged assault and will be issued with a court attendance notice.

Four people were evicted from the stadium.

The police officers have been treated for cuts and bruises.
