In Spring Hill, Florida, a middle school teacher from Hernando County was taken into custody on Monday after an inquiry into a potential crime involving a young individual.

Documents reveal that 45-year-old Jonathan Rowe was held at the Hernando County Jail, facing accusations of sharing inappropriate material with a minor and using a communication device to commit a felony.

According to a representative from the Hernando County School District, Rowe had been working as a middle school educator at Explorer K-8 since August. His profile on the school’s website indicated that he taught mathematics to students in grades six through eight.

He was terminated last week on Wednesday, May 14 and “will not be allowed to return,” according to the school district.

School officials said Monday they were assisting the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office in its investigation into the circumstances relating to Rowe’s arrest, but did not provide any further information.

“The Hernando County School District is committed to fostering a safe learning environment with a zero-tolerance stance against those who put our students’ well-being in jeopardy,” a spokesperson for the school district wrote in an email.
