A man from Indiana faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder after two of his colleagues accused him of attempting to involve them in a scheme to kill his wife.

As per court records acquired by WXIN, a Fox affiliate in the area, 44-year-old Darshan Soni was charged with trying to persuade a co-worker from Compass Property Group to carry out the murder of his wife. Another colleague, who wished to remain unidentified, came forward with claims that Soni had inquired where he might buy a gun silencer. This individual informed the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department about their conversation with Soni on May 12, prompting an investigation.

The police said that Soni may have also allegedly attempted to kill his wife himself before turning to his co-workers.

According to WXIN, the whistleblower discussed the situation with another Compass co-worker, who claimed Soni had allegedly asked him if he would be willing to kill his wife and discussed potential compensation for the act. Furthermore, the employee reportedly suggested to Soni that he could hold onto Soni’s phone as part of an “alibi” scheme, so it would seem that Soni was elsewhere at the time he planned to commit the purported crime.

According to the court documents that were also obtained by local ABC affiliate WRTV, that employee also reportedly looked into getting cash to purchase a Ford Escape, which Soni allegedly intended to use to transport the employee who would kill Soni’s wife. Soni allegedly gave the employee $2,000 in April to put toward the car.

WRTV reported that Soni’s alleged plot was apparently in the works for months, possibly as long as a year. The employee, who cooperated with the police in exchange for immunity, told authorities that Soni had allegedly spoken with him about different kinds of poisons and criminal activities.

But before Soni allegedly turned to his co-workers for advice on how to kill his wife, he may have attempted to commit the act himself. According to the documents, Soni’s wife told police that in November 2024, she experienced “quite serious” nerve pain and sciatica, and was found to have thyroid issues earlier this year.
