COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. () – Jerry Jacobs was kicking back as Memorial Day weekend kicks off.
“Just relaxing. I come out here just to calm my mind and just relax,” said Jerry.
And like many others at the lake, Jerry had a cooler, and like many others he did not know this is the coolest day for coolers.
“Really? You just taught me something George,” said Jerry Russell.
Yes, for the past several years, the Friday before Memorial Day has been deemed National Cooler Day. Coolers, we count them as friends.
“Yetis, K-2s, Gators, Pelicans,” said Josh Proctor.
But how cool are we with our coolers? Are they an extension of ourselves or a simple tool to keep things cold?
“For me I’d have to say it’s a tool, but it’s a necessity. Got to have it and you love them, “said Brooks Norton.
“You love your cooler?”
“Oh, yeah,” Brooks said.
“A cooler is a cooler is a cooler. As long as it keeps the ice and my drinks cold, I’m happy with it,” said Ryan Gill.
“Have you ever bragged about your cooler?”
“I’ve got a Yeti at home that costs you a pretty penny, but yeah, there’s a difference in coolers,” said Jerry Russell.
“It’s a blue Yeti. It’s the best thing. One of my favorite presents actually,” said Brooks.
“So, you’re one of those cooler guys.”
“I am I’m a cooler guy,” he said.
National Cooler Day, where we honor our coolers…except this type.
“Would you ever have a Styrofoam cooler?”
“No,” Josh said for a life.
