JERUSALEM – The missile launched by Yemen’s Houthi rebels was intercepted by the Israeli military on Sunday.
The missile triggered air raid sirens in Jerusalem and other areas. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
Iran-supported Houthis have continually fired missiles at Israel and at vessels in the Red Sea, claiming retaliation for Israel’s military actions against Hamas in Gaza. The ships targeted were mostly unrelated to Israel or the ongoing conflict.
Earlier this month, the U.S. paused its relentless bombing of the Houthis, citing the rebels’ commitment to cease attacking ships. This informal ceasefire, however, excluded any hostilities against Israel.
