You may have your five-step skincare routine down to a tee, but adding just one ingredient to your coffee could help you look younger. Adding collagen protein to your morning ritual may help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, according to a neuroscientist.

Taking to TikTok, Robert Love (@robertwblove) advised people to consider collagen protein as a way to aid anti-ageing. Explaining the benefits of this protein, the neuroscientist said: “Research shows that women who take a collagen protein supplement have stronger bones, stronger muscles and fewer wrinkles on their face. So not only is collagen great for your skin, it’s also good for your bone density and muscle strength as well.”

Collagen is a protein that helps form the connective tissues of the body, including the ligaments, muscles, tendons and skin all of which deplete with age.

By the time women are 55, they have most likely lost about 50% of the collagen in their skin.

An easy way to introduce this to your routine is by adding it to your coffee.

When mixed with coffee, the collagen protein tastes great, enhancing your morning cup of energy.

Our skin is made up of 70-80% of various different types of collagen that our body naturally produces, however, as we age, our levels deplete. Lifestyle and diet can also impact the amount of collagen we are producing.

By introducing a collagen protein supplement into your diet you can help yourself look younger but you can also guard your liver, protect your body from certain diseases and also improve digestion.

As well as making your skin stronger it will enhance your nails and hair too. The amino acids found in collagen will help keep your these things nourished and this is because it renews your cells and gives the needed elasticity and lubrication. It can also promote heart health and calm down aches and pains.
