BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A juvenile male was killed in a shooting in the far northwest end of Birmingham on Saturday night.

The Birmingham Police Department reported that at approximately 8:10 p.m., they got a transferred call from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office about a shooting incident in the 8600 block of Birmingport Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a juvenile male unresponsive inside a vehicle, exhibiting signs of an apparent gunshot wound.

Birmingport Fire Department personnel pronounced the male dead. The BPD said people who knew each other were participating in recreational boating activities. When that ended, a male fired a gun, fatally wounding the victim.
