A major wellness and skincare company has recalled one of its baby products over a disturbing discovery that may cause choking.

Weleda Australia Pty Ltd has announced a recall for a specific batch of Weleda Baby Teething Oral Powder after a glass fragment was discovered in one of the bottles.

The company attributes this issue to an error in the packaging process, which might have led to glass fragments in other 60g bottles from batch (B)231302, with an expiry date of 11/2026.

This recall does not impact other batches.

If there are glass fragments in the powder and it is applied to an infant’s gums, it could cause discomfort, pain or minor injury.

The presence of glass poses a risk of choking or causing internal injuries, including potential harm to the gastrointestinal tract that could require immediate medical treatment.

The powder has been sold at Chemist Warehouse, Priceline and other stores.

Consumers should immediately cease using the product from the affected batch and return it to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement.

For more advice, contact Weleda Australia via email at assist@weleda.com.au, or call 1300 551 454.

Anyone concerned about the use of this product should consult a health professional immediately.
