An 18-year-old kayaker was killed late Sunday afternoon on a Texas lake when she was struck by a jet ski.
The jet ski’s operator escaped the scene along with an unidentified man, while the passenger stayed behind and engaged with first responders, as reported by Texas Game Wardens. It remains unclear if she disclosed the identity of the jet ski operator.
The individual who fell victim to the hit-and-run at Grapevine Lake was named Ava Renee Moore. Bystanders brought her to the shoreline and tried to resuscitate her until emergency personnel arrived and transported her to Baylor, Scott & White Hospital in Grapevine, where she was later declared deceased.
The suspect and the unidentified man left the area in a vehicle that struck another vehicle on their way out of the park. The Grapevine Police are looking into the traffic collision, while the Texas Game Wardens continue to examine the tragic hit-and-run incident.
Investigators released a photograph of the suspect and asked anyone with information to contact them.
