The Danville Dans kicked off their season at home in Danville, Ill., with new attractions in store for fans this year.

They’ve updated their bathrooms and placed air conditioning in a few of the locker rooms — all before the season opener.

The Danville Dans have been running since the 1940’s, continuing to stay relevant through several generations.

Despite the cherished memories and long-standing tradition, renovations were necessary. Thanks to a $100,000 grant, the owners have been able to enhance the venue with a new party room, LED lighting, and other upgrades.

“It’s gratifying to see our efforts being validated,” said Richard Kurth, Co-owner of the Danville Dans. “Interest in this place is rising, particularly among newer generations of Danville residents who continue to attend these games.”

He said they’ve been working on the new improvements for six months. The grant came from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Kurth said they are hoping to continue creating a better experience for the fans in the future by getting a new sound system and adding artificial turf.
