The Hadids have welcomed an “unexpected” family addition.

On Thursday, May 29, supermodel sisters Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid revealed they have discovered a previously unknown half-sibling. The daughters of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star shared that 23-year-old Aydan Nix is their half-sister, born to their father, Mohamed Hadid, and Terri Hatfield Dull.

“More than 20 years ago, our dad, while he was single, had a short-lived relationship that resulted in a pregnancy,” Gigi and Bella explained in a joint statement to the Daily Mail.

When did Gigi and Bella Hadid learn they had another half-sibling?

Gigi and Bella clarified that Mohamed and Terri’s connection started after Mohamed’s 2001 divorce from their mother, Yolanda Hadid. They mentioned that Aydan was brought up in Florida and grew up knowing a man she regarded as her father, until his unexpected death when she was 19.

After Aydan’s family loss, she reportedly took a genetic test “out of curiosity,” and discovered she was biologically related to the Hadid family. Gigi and Bella said they first connected with their half-sister in late 2023 and have since “embraced Aydan with open arms.” 

“She’s spent time with all of us, including our dad, and we’ve cherished this unexpected and beautiful addition to our family,” they continued. “As siblings, we’ve had many open and loving conversations — with Aydan included — about how to support and protect her. Aydan and her family value their privacy, and we fully respect that. We kindly ask others to do the same and honor her wish and right to her anonymity as she continues her life as a young woman in New York.”

According to the Daily Mail, Aydan recently graduated from the Parsons School of Design in Manhattan. She is said to be a fashion designer/stylist and an aspiring influencer. 

The outlet reported that Terri learned she was pregnant with Aydan after her relationship with Mohamed had ended.

Yolanda and Mohamed got married in 1994 and went on to welcome three children together: 30-year-old Gigi, 28-year-old Bella, and 25-year-old son Anwar Hadid. Mohamed also has two daughters — Marielle Hadid and Alana Hadid — whom he shares with his first wife, Mary Butler. The Hadid siblings have all worked in the fashion/design business.

“I think my whole family just loves fashion because there is so much to play with in that world,” Marielle told The Daily Dish in 2016. “There are really no boundaries here, and we are drawn to that idea. I think that we are creatives and, all in our own ways, fashion has just allowed us to be ourselves, which is so fulfilling. To do what you love and get paid for it is such a great experience.”
