Laura Mays was traveling with her family to Jamaica and said she was glad they got there three hours early.
“They weren’t interested,” Mays explained. “They said, ‘This is unacceptable; you’re overreacting,’ and I thought, ‘Well, we’re likely still going to catch the flight.'”
While Mays’ group was feeling good about their situation, others not so much.
Besides dealing with a weather-related flight delay, Kendhal Herron was also trying to navigate Southwest’s new baggage policy that was implemented this week.
“It’s somewhat frustrating, but in terms of timing, we get home earlier due to the connection,” Herron remarked. “However, right now it’s chaotic and there aren’t enough staff members.”
The impacts from severe weather could be felt across Central Florida this week.
In Ocala, police said a man was killed on Thursday when a tree fell on him during a storm.
Over in Seminole County, a house caught fire after it was struck by lightning on Tuesday.
