The Nasser Medical Complex reported on Saturday that Dr. Hamdi al-Najjar passed away due to his injuries, following the loss of his nine children who were previously killed.

Dr al-Najjar left her 10 children at home on May 23 when she went to work in the emergency room at the Nasser Medical Complex in southern Gaza.

Later in the day, the bodies of seven of her children – most badly burned – arrived at the hospital, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

They were killed in an Israeli airstrike on her family’s home, Gaza Civil Defense said.

The bodies of two more of her children – a seven-month-old and a 12-year-old who authorities presume to be dead – remain missing.

Only one of her 10 children, 11-year-old Adam, survived.

Their residence, located in a neighborhood of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, was claimed to have been hit by an Israeli airstrike, according to civil defense forces and the health ministry.

Responding to a previous inquiry from CNN, the Israeli military stated that their aircraft targeted several suspects who were observed operating from a building near IDF forces in the Khan Younis region.

It said it was reviewing the claim civilians had been killed.

Meanwhile, Hamas is seeking amendments to the latest US ceasefire proposal for Gaza, a senior official with the group told The Associated Press overnight, but US envoy Steve Witkoff called the Hamas response “totally unacceptable”
