TikTok has resumed normal operations after experiencing a brief outage last night. Users began reporting issues with the platform shortly after 11PM ET, noting that although TikTok was not entirely offline, it was experiencing technical difficulties that affected users attempting to access the service and view video comments.
Reports on Reddit, Twitter, Bluesky, and from our own testing indicated that while some videos could load in TikTok’s mobile apps, other features like comments and account switching were unreliable, causing some users to worry that their accounts might have been banned. Attempts to access the TikTok website or its support pages resulted in a message that read “An error occurred while processing your request,” along with a reference code.
TikTok did not publicly acknowledge the outage or clarify its cause. During the outage, status pages from some of its service providers, such as Akamai and Oracle, showed no signs of broader issues. According to Downdetector, there were 44,000 reports at our last check before normal service resumed around 12AM ET. Although the reason behind the technical problems remains unclear, the service was restored quickly.
Update, June 3rd: The TikTok outage has now been resolved.
