A man has been taken into custody in relation to the disappearance of 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop.

Queensland Police said the 34-year-old is “assisting police with enquiries” during the investigation, but no charges have been laid.

Pheobe was last seen around 8:30 am on May 15, after her housemates reportedly dropped her off at Bundaberg Airport. She was supposed to fly to Western Australia via Brisbane to see her boyfriend.

But, according to police, she never checked in for her flight or entered the terminal.

Today marked 20 days since her disappearance.

Her mother, Kylie Johnson, took to social media to say she started the day “still missing” her.

“I don’t know if life will ever be the same again? I don’t know if I will ever look at the world the same way that I did before May 15th,” she said.

Johnson said she knew that people had information on Pheobe’s whereabouts and urged them to come forward.

“What I do know is that people have information on where you are Phee and we need that reported to police,” she said.

The search for Pheobe Bishop continues.

Police, alongside the homicide squad, are still examining Pheobe’s mysterious disappearance. However, they halted all physical search efforts earlier today.

“At this moment, there are no active physical searches for Pheobe, but such searches will be conducted if necessary and as new information comes to light,” a Queensland Police representative stated.

“Investigations are ongoing and police are continuing to run out several lines of enquiry.”

The update comes days after police suspended their search of the Good Night Scrub National Park, about an hour away from where Pheobe was last seen, which had been a focus in the investigation.

There, officers had seized some items linked to her disappearance, but have been tight-lipped about what those are.

Police believe some evidence had been moved from the bushland prior to their search.

Pheobe Bishop, 17, was last seen at Airport Drive outside Bundaberg Regional Airport about 8.30am on May 15.

Two crime scenes have been declared — Pheobe’s home in Gin Gin, near Bundaberg and about four hours north of Brisbane, and her housemate’s grey Hyundai ix35 with registration 414EW3.

A search of the car led police to allegedly find a shortened firearm, ammunition, and two replica handguns.

More ammunition was allegedly found at a home in Gin Gin.

Pheobe’s housemates, Tanika Bromley and her partner James Wood, have since been charged with unrelated weapons offences.

There is no suggestion that the pair are involved in her disappearance, and they remain before the courts.

Pheobe is described as about 180 centimetres tall, with a pale complexion, long dyed red hair, and hazel eyes.

She was last seen carrying luggage, which is also missing, and wearing a green tank top and grey sweatpants.

Her family has described her disappearance as out of character.

Police are appealing to anyone with information, vision or sightings of the grey Hyundai ix35 with registration 414EW3 between May 15 to 18 in the greater Gin Gin area to come forward.
