Police in North Carolina have accused a man of purposely crashing his vehicle in an attempt to kill his wife. Witnesses at the scene claim he made remarks supporting this intent.

Anderson Singleton, 33, is facing multiple felony charges, such as assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Authorities allege that on Saturday, he deliberately caused a head-on collision. According to local CBS affiliate WNCN, Singleton was driving a black Honda CR-V with his wife beside him when he reportedly veered into a brown Toyota Camry coming from the opposite direction.

The crash was caught on camera by a passerby, whose vehicle had a dashcam.

WNCN interviewed Jorge Bravo, the driver of that SUV who stopped to help the victims of the crash after it occurred. Bravo told WNCN that Singleton reportedly had a lot to say in the aftermath of the collision, which injured Singleton, his wife, and the two men inside the Toyota Camry.

Referring to Singleton, Bravo said, “He was like, ‘Oh, that’s not an accident. I was trying to kill my wife and myself. We were fighting each other. We’re trying to kill each other. We’re definitely going to the psych ward.””

Police stated that they did not believe Singleton was impaired at the time of the alleged crash.
