During Season 2, Episode 8 of The Valley, Brittany Cartwright received an unexpected piece of news from a show producer. The producer informed her that Jax Taylor, who was at the time admitted to a mental health facility, had sent a text message.
Brittany was sitting in the home she once shared with Jax when the producer shared this information. In response, she broke the fourth wall and read the message aloud: “Make sure you get that on film. I can hear everything. Childish behavior.”
This revelation left Brittany stunned, leading her to ask an important question. “He can’t hear. You can’t hear anything. Do you think that he put a bug in here?” she inquired, leaving the producer just as baffled, responding, “How does he know I’m here?”
“Unless he put some little secret devices around this house, our interior cameras don’t have sound,” Brittany added in a confessional. “But, we are speaking about Jax Taylor here. I don’t put anything past him anymore.”
Why are Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright covering the cameras inside their house?
Brittany first moved out of the couple’s dream home after they made the decision to separate in February 2024. On this season of The Valley, viewers saw Jax place cards over the cameras inside the home in order to cover them. “He had taped cards over our cameras in the house so he could hide girls from me, ’cause it was our rule that he was not allowed to bring girls into the house,” Brittany told Kristen Doute on Episode 7.
Brittany had been renting homes for her and Jax’s son, Cruz, during the separation. But when Jax revealed that he’d decided to leave the home and rent his own condo on Episode 7, Brittany decided to move back into the home she once shared with Jax.
But that’s when Brittany made another discovery. “I’m at home with mom, and I look up, and I realize our cameras aren’t covered anymore,” Brittany shared with Kristen.
Why Jax Taylor moved out of his and Brittany’s Valley home
Jax elaborated on his decision on The Valley After Show. “I’m standing up, being a man, leaving the home, and going somewhere else, a mile down the road, so I’m right there if she needs me,” he explained. “I’ll even have the place even before I get out. I’ll have it signed, sealed, delivered, and she’ll be happy with this. It totally backfired on me.”
“I was thinking of my kid,” Jax insisted. “I still stand by it. My therapist stood by it.”
