Play time is officially here!
Disney Jr. has announced “Disney Jr. Let’s Play!,” a global campaign to encourage preschoolers to get laughing, moving and, of course, playing.
The company-wide effort was announced on ABC’s Good Morning America, which will air future segments through the summer to promote movement.
Disney Jr. will also collaborate with ESPN’s Take Back initiative to offer grants to families with preschoolers who are facing financial hardship.
“At Disney Jr., play is not just for fun – it’s an essential element in storytelling, sparking creativity, and helping children understand their surroundings,” explained Ayo Davis, the president of Disney Branded Television. “Our characters are more than just favorites; they are companions who encourage movement, creativity, and happiness. With ‘Disney Jr. Let’s Play!,’ we are inviting families to extend that playful energy beyond the screen and into their daily lives.”
Throughout the summer, various events and activities will occur, such as a Disney Jr. roller-skating experience at over 400 rinks nationwide, the “Disney Jr. Let’s Play! Party” at Disney California Adventure Park and Downtown Disney District (set for later this summer), and the “Disney Jr. Live On Tour: Let’s Play!” concert currently touring abroad. Additionally, you can enjoy “Disney Jr. Let’s Play!” YouTube shorts aimed at encouraging children to engage in play and laughter.
According to the Child Mind Institute, play time for little ones is helpful for development.
“Play-based activities are crucial for the healthy development of preschoolers and provide them with positive emotions essential for their well-being. When children pretend to be their favorite characters, it creates a natural opportunity for parents and caregivers to join in the fun, bringing joy to the entire family,” stated Kathryn L. Keough, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist at the Child Mind Institute.
The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Disney Jr and this ABC station.
