A mural in downtown Los Angeles honoring late Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gigi, has been vandalized for the second time in less than two months.

The mural, located on Main Street near West 14th Street, was created by artist Louie “Sloe” Motion shortly after Kobe, Gigi and seven others died in a helicopter crash in January 2020.

In the first vandalism, which took place on April 29, graffiti was spray-painted across most of the mural, which shows the NBA Hall of Famer kissing his daughter’s head.

After a GoFundMe was started to raise funds to help restore the iconic art installation, it was announced that current Lakers star Luka Dončić — who joined the Lakers during the middle of the 2025 season in a blockbuster trade that sent shockwaves through the league — donated the full amount.

Restoration began on April 30 and was completed exactly a month later. However, less than a week after the mural was brought back to life, it was vandalized again.

Video taken by KTLA early Wednesday morning shows that the mural had again been tagged with graffiti. A video posted on Instagram by DTLA Insider on Tuesday also showed the vandalism.

“I was driving home from work, when [out of] the corner of my eye, I thought I saw what I am unfortunately seeing right now,” a man could be heard saying in the DTLA Insider video. “It looks like they vandalized ‘Sloe’ Motion’s Kobe and Gigi mural once again.”

The man lamented that “at this point, [he didn’t] even know what to say.”

“I’m just absolutely speechless at this disrespect,” he said. “This is disgusting.”

The perpetrator or perpetrators behind both acts of vandalism are not known. It is also unknown if the artist will repaint the mural a second time.
