Cold temperatures, snow, rain, storms, and small amounts of are forecast to hit parts of Australia.
On Sunday afternoon ahead of the King’s Birthday public holiday on Monday, the Bureau of Meteorology said the focus of rainfall and snow activity will be around Victoria, southern NSW, and eastern and southern Tasmania in what it is calling a “cold outbreak”.
Snow could also develop on the southern and central tablelands, and possibly the northern tablelands. Ski resorts could see an additional half a metre within a few days.
Monday is set to bring another wave of rain moving to southern Victoria, while showers will continue for parts of South Australia and inland NSW.
Hazardous surf conditions are forecast to hit the NSW coast, particularly around the Illawarra and Hunter regions. Swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating, and swimming.

Larger waves are expected to start developing offshore on Sunday night, and will continue to become stronger on Monday night, with some offshore waves expected to reach four to five metres.

Brisbane

On Monday, Brisbane is forecast to have mild weather, with a minimum of 9 and maximum of 20 degrees. It is expected to be partly cloudy, with light winds and a low chance of rain.

Sydney

The weather will be cooler in Sydney, with a minimum of 8 degrees and maximum of 20. There will be northwesterly winds, and a 40 per cent chance of rain, according to the BoM.

Melbourne

Melbourne will have a high likelihood of showers, along with southwesterly winds. The temperature is also expected to be cool, with a minimum of 8 and maximum of 14.

Canberra

The capital city is set for cold weather on Monday, with a minimum of 0 and a maximum of 11 degrees. It is likely to be cloudy with winds, and there is a high chance of showers in the morning and afternoon.

Hobart

In Hobart, rain is almost certain on Monday. It is expected to be cloudy with winds, and temperatures ranging from 8 to 13 degrees.

Adelaide

Adelaide is also set for cool weather, with a medium chance of showers in the morning and afternoon. Temperatures are expected to range from 6 to 16 degrees, and there will be winds throughout the afternoon and evening.

Perth

Unlike the eastern states, Perth is expected to be sunny on the public holiday. Temperatures are expected to hit a minimum of 7 degrees and a maximum of 22 degrees.

Northern Territory

Darwin is expected to be warm, sunny and dry on Monday, with a minimum of 19 and maximum of 30 forecast.
