CA Congressman Looks to Defund, Revoke Nonprofit Status of Groups Involved in Inciting Riots

California Congressman Aims to Strip Funding and Nonprofit Status from Organizations Encouraging Riots

Following recent events in Los Angeles and other cities, Congressman Kevin Kiley (R-CA) announced his plans to introduce new legislation aimed at addressing the actions of rioters and their financiers.

Kiley’s proposal includes a bill that would prevent NGOs engaged in organizing illegal riots from accessing federal funds or maintaining tax-exempt status. Additionally, another measure would boost penalties for those who disrupt federal immigration and law enforcement activities or assault federal officers, highlighting that the current penalty for such an assault is merely one year, according to a press release from Kiley.

The Sacramento-area legislator appeared on Newsmax to discuss the topic.

“The violence we have witnessed in Los Angeles is a threat to the safety of our communities and federal officers, and it undermines democracy by obstructing the policies of a duly elected President from being implemented.” Rep. Kiley said. “We need better tools to deter and punish this lawless and anti-democratic behavior.”
