AUGUSTA, Ga () – Hundreds of protests are happening across the country to speak out against the Trump administration.

These demonstrations coincide with President Donald Trump’s military parade, which commemorates the Army’s 250th anniversary, Flag Day, and the President’s 79th birthday.

One protestor tells me what changes she wants to see.

“It’s about the policies that have been enacted against immigrants and our own citizens. This is Augusta demanding rights for everyone,” stated Amanda Waymer.

Waymer says its empowering to see hundreds of people coming together.

“It’s overwhelming to know what people want this, we want America for America,” Waymer said.

I spoke with two parents who brought their young daughter to the protest, they want her to grow up and speak up for what she believes in.

Toby White mentioned, “I’m protesting the lack of due process. It’s frightening because it’s a slippery slope—it might begin with someone you don’t agree with, and eventually, it could affect you. That’s why we’re here.”

“We don’t want her to grow up in a world where she doesn’t feel like she can stand up for herself, we need to make sure that she uses her voice because that’s how we got in this situation in the first place,” said Anay Armstrong.

Organizers stressed this was a non-violent protest and warned participants they would be asked to leave if they could not follow the rules. There was another protest Saturday afternoon in Aiken.

There were no incidents stemming from either of those protests.
