A skier suffered severe injuries after tumbling 1,000 feet down a mountain in Colorado during the weekend, as emergency responders faced challenges with multiple 911 callers losing their signal.

The incident involved a 29-year-old man who had been visiting South Arapaho Peak, roughly 50 miles northwest of Denver. On Saturday, as reported by the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, he began his ski descent down Skywalker Couloir.

The man slipped and fell down the mountain, tumbling approximately 1,000 feet before eventually landing on a nearby slope, deputies said.
